doing some minor updates to the fuel system when the new pump goes back in. Looking at locating a ball valve to make filter maintenance a little easier/less messy. If you have one, where you putting the valves? My thought was putting one in the 5/8 line before it goes into the Dahl 150. Other ideas/thoughts?

I use a mechanical carpenters clamp or a vice grip to pinch the 5/8 line of my sump to the pre filter. .can you get at your tank to pre pump filter supply line to do that next time?

Kinda wished I had put a ball valve in there. ..

I have a ball valve pre-pump filter and post-pump filter with both filters and the pump between them so I can isolate all of it.

Mine is in the line between the sump and the pre-filter.

Fits nice on top of the skid plate. Easy to reach and a clean install.

Why not just change the filters on a low tank so you don't siphon fuel?

Id agree, that was an issue with the timing of the tank being full. However the system is apart due to the pump dying, making a few other changes and the valve was easy to add.

Right now, I think I'll put the valve on the exit of the post pump filter since the fuel rails are the high point and the filter ports are at the tank high point. (These filters are not mounted much higher and are actually attached to seat frame fasteners below the cab tucked in behind the t-case.) Thought is that when you crack a filter and introduce air, it should back drain toward the tank straw and seek the level of the tank in the system. The Dahl 150 also has an air bleed to help also.

At the end of the day, with no other issues, it will be a couple of years before I deal with filters again since I put few miles on the truck.

Anyone have experience with the fuel being aerated while passing thru the valve under pressure? That was my last lingering thought with this plan...

^^^this for the pre pump filter, since the strickly diesel kit filter head is level with the top of the tank or higher. no need for another leak point.
and I did what "^man^" did or is thinking about doing. one ball vlv. on the outlet of the post pump filter head, since its soooo much lower than the engine. have not experienced changing the filters yet, ive only had them on for a couple of months.

Because in 8 years I can count on one hand how many times my tank has been below half full...

With 140 gallons on tap, its not very often that the truck gauge moves...

I have Strictly's RR with a ball valve before and after the water block filter and another valve after the second filter. It works great!
