Looking for opinions on shocks. I currently have rough country shocks but im sure there the wrong length and they sure do ride like the name . Any part number for a good part?

It's the spring rates that are giving you a horrible ride Shock will give you some what of a harsh ride. But when you buy the cheapest lift in the country you can't expect it to ride nice.

The lift isnt rough country just the shocks were. It also has tripple shock counts and i bet thats not helping so im going to only leave the outer two. The lift is only leaf springs and i cant tell by looking at them but the in pretty good condition and rear has 3 inch blocks and the rest of the lift is 2.5 maybeee 3 inch body lift. Im sure the leaf springs are whats impacting it the most but however, i do need shocks because only two on the rear are good and a few started leaking.

Well the way we did it for my 96 with 15" springs was how long was the bolt hole to bolt hole for the shock brackets. With weight on the truck, and had it on a lift with the weight off the truck. it was like 29.5 inch with the weight and 36" inch weight off...or somthing like that idk, called bilstein with the info. and had a set of 5150 shock in a week. best shocks ive had on the truck sofar if that helps?

? well we can ran superduty springs on this year truck, bc i have three truck here we have done it to. 1977 to 2003 ford springs are the same, we buy the springs from Custom Suspension in canada, they are littler leafs but more of them trucks ride good, helps alot with the 7.3ls. if that helps you.

There's a better alternative for us buffal-area guys; brute spring in buffalo. I have a phone # if anybody is interested. They do car/truck work all up to tractors and tractor trailers.

Cary T sells the bilsteins; give cary a pm.

When it comes to lift springs, you'll get a better ride from more thin leafs as apposed to a few thicker 1s, it's what sets apart a better lift than a cheap 1. Also, a good set of shocks can effect the ride quality as well. As others have already posted, bilsteins seem to be a pretty good affordable shock, unless you wanna get carried away an step up to resi's
