Ok let me hear everyone's opinions on these 3. In 37's

Master craft MXT

Buck shot maxxis II

Cooper discoverer STT pro

Looking for a combination of best ride quality and longer lasting. I'll sacrifice longevity for ride quality however.

I have the Discoverer STT in 35s (they came out with the Pro redesign after I ordered mine) and they're okay. Mud and snow tire, so the speed rating isn't as good as I'd like and they definitely feel squishy on corners with any speed with the EX. They're noisier than I thought they'd be coming from ATZs and they don't joke about the self cleaning- they throw rocks/mud like crazy if you leave pavement. I went 15k on one rotation and regretted it... it snuck up on me with as much time as I spent on the road this summer. No major complaints towing the toy hauler or the livestock trailer. I haven't looked to see what they changed with the redesign, but it may have helped some of my complaints.

Of those 3, skip the Maxxis. I ran them for awhile. They're better than Federals, but the Coopers and Mastercrafts are so much better. I'd also consider the Course CT, but it may not be available in the size you want.

I got the the coopers....seem like an ok tire, but I won't get them again....came from the nitto trail grapplers...which I'll be going back too.....but they seem to work well in snow/mud they are louder then my last tire....and they throw rocks bad!!!! I life in wat I'd call a gravel pit, and these tires love it....which I hate...lol

You don't want the courser mxt if you don't want to rotate them every 5k. I let mine go 10k because I didn't have time to make it to a shop to rotate them over the winter and they're chopped worse than any tire I've ever had before. I actually may end up going to either a street tire or back to the duratracs in the size I want.

Thanks for the input guys. And Frank.

Not really stuck on them they are roughly all around $360-$400 a tire. I was trying to avoid spending $600 a tire on a truck that gets less than 5k miles a year put on it but if I'm told I should spend that much for a tire that rides better and wears better I may just say screw it.

I wouldn't put them on my worst enemies truck.
Are you just spewing garbage or have you personally run them? Are you against someone running an aggressive tire that supposedly actually lasts more than 20K? Or do you sell tires? Geeze

Cooper stt pro all the way! I've been in sand and mud and seem to do pretty well in both. Put them on Jan 23 and have over 5k miles on them now. Just had them rotated and they are wearing great!

I had the old style stt before this set and had about 50k on them with lots of hard driving, 1 good nasty burnout, and not rotating the last 30k..

I'm against running cheap Chinese crap when it involves mine and other peoples safety. Have you never seen the federal couragia tires or the cheap eBay mud tires separate and/or bubble the sidewalls.
And the length of time that the the tire lasts is directly related to the hardness of the rubber. So unless you prefer a rock hard type of rubber that isn't going to grip or perform as a traditional mud tire should because your in it for the looks and not the performance, and you don't mind possibly killing someone when your tires separate it explode going 60-70 on a highway when you lose control. Then by all means have at it.

And yes. I have seen the cheap eBay mud tire shred the sidewalls when put under too much rotating force. Bead still mounted on the wheel with multiple tears in the sidewall.

:whs:

A local tire shop quit selling federal tires because of the poor quality and it's probably a pretty safe bet that if it's made by federal, the poor quality would carry over regardless of what name is stamped on the sidewall. Personally, I stick to the big names (Nitto, Toyo, Cooper, Goodyear, Firestone, BFG, etc.). Yes, they cost a bit more, sometimes a lot more up front, but I know what I'm getting. Cheap tires have their place... just not on the highway imo.

I love my nitto terra g2 I have now. They are wearing amazingly well. I should get 55K easily.

For a more aggressive tire, I've had the nitto trail grappler and Toyo RT. The RT was quieter and more street friendly.

The nittos wore perfectly flat (rotate every 5k)

As did the RTs

I abused both tires and they never gave me a lick of trouble.

Only reason I've stayed away from those 2 are I've heard them compared to the rough riding Micky Thompsons which are on the truck now and that I would never buy again.

But that's why I made the thread because everyone has different experiences with different products.

So you isn't have the squishy feeling in curves as described by Frank's experience with them?

That's the type of thing that's annoying is 2 people have different outcomes with the same product.

I wonder since hers was on the expedition and with the added weight on the rear had them feeling sloppy in curves
