BTS uses his own parts and a PI Stallion converter afaik. John Wood uses his own parts too afaik, not sure what he does for a converter though.

Just had mine rebuilt.....found a local guy that moved here from CA. He used to build trannies for the offroad racers out there.

He said that one of the common problems with the 4R100 is a failure of the snap ring that holds the center support in place. When it fails the center support moves out of position and you have no drive. IDK but when he pulled mine apart...sure enough the snap ring had failed. Full rebuild with new TC $1900 he even installed the new 6.0 cooler for me.

Now, I don't drag race, sled pull, or blow smoke...just use my truck for a truck, but if I were looking for a bulletproof tranny......there's just too many good reports on the BTS not to consider it the first choice.

Have him get ahold of Strictly Diesel in Phoenix and talk to them about what he's lookin for. John Wood does an awesome job down in Holtville and is way closer than BTS for getting it installed. I have heard good things about the local builder that Newman mentioned earlier in the thread too.
