Okay guys maybe this thread is common sense, but whats the quickest/easiest way to track down an exhaust leak.

The simple answer would be look for soot, when i cant see any.

Some might say spray water and look for bubbles, but i believe my leak it out of sight completely because i cant see bubbles anywhere.

Is there a more technical way to track down an exhaust leak? I know ive got one because if i smash the pedal hard enough i get a very faint haze in the cab and at low RPM's its beginning to tick ever so slightly

Any help would be appreciated

I just started a stupid thread about boost gauges! We're good company! :)

I think another set of eyes might be a good thing to have. CHeck all your fasteners on your exhaust.

Good luck!

Yeah i guess its possible it could be on the exhaust system itself. But i believe its affecting spool up and overall boost. So im thinking its between engine and turbo

I have a boost leak style connector that hooks to the turbine outlet.

Maybe a white rag on a stick, well it's probably covered it soot anyway so that probably won't work.

They should its a machine that produces smoke similar to smoke machines at clubs, haunted houses, etc. its just more controllable and that way the truck dosnt have to be running and blow the soot every which way so you can't see it. Sometimes its dyed so black light picks it up ive heard

You can also use smoke grenandes and stick it in the tailpipe slap some tape over it and it should show you where it's leaking had 2 buddies that did that recently and it worked quite well and yes the smoke was strong enough to travel all the way from the tailpipe all the way up to the down pipe

There's a good idea.
