quick question,

I pulled the shot bilstein yellow shocks off my truck, and got them warrantied out, and the new rear shocks appear to mount shock boot up, where the old ones mounted shock boot down. The fronts still mount shock boot down and the part number stayed the same.
The rear's part number seemed to change, as the sticker that was on there had the part number on it, and it said right on the sticker f250/350 rear, and the sticker would read correctly mounted with the boot down.
The new rear would read correctly mounted with the boot up.

Does it matter? seems odd they would change it, and it will look odd with the front boots facing down, and rear pointing up?

any help

It does matter with Bilstein shocks. It is all in how they are valved for bound and rebound.

The rears need to be boot up & the fronts need to be boot down. Basically you need to install them by how you can read the label with the part number on them.

that is different than what the tech guy at bilstein North America out of california told me. He said they are designed to run either way, it didn't matter. Since I didn't get a response from this site I called last monday.

I did mount them the way the stickers read correctly though.

who knows they are on and its done.

thanks for the replies

That isn't what I was told by their tech support when I got my shocks. I was told that the stickers are on there and meant to be guides on how the shock should be installed. They told me the shocks had different valving for bound and rebound for each different application.
