Okay its about my parents truck. Its a 2001 f350 7.3 psd 4x4.

Right now it has hawk pads and non cryo powerslot rotors on the front. Before this we went through the original set replaced them because they warped. Put on a set new from lordco and they warped within 2 months. Now apparently after the truck went into ford for a warranty on the starter the mechanics said the powerslot rotors that have been on for no more than 6 months are warped and need replacing.

What rotors would you guys recommend on the front that wont warp or have a warranty against warping? Also brake pads?

Note * my mom does drive the truck like a sports car.

Warping rotors is more about braking habits than anything else. That being said, a 2001 truck is ten years old. When did you replace the originals, how long did it take them to warp?

My 99 is still on its original rotors. Tell her to brake sooner and not so hard.

Have you checked it yourself? Shop might be trying to sell ya a job that you don't need. I've had powerslots on two trucks and with heavy towing I couldn't warp them

I will look at it myself. The last time i drove it the truck seemed to me to brake fine no shuddering or anything. These are the regular powerslot rotors not the cryo'd ones. Which ones did u have?

I have a set of powerslots and hawk pads that have over 50K on them with almost all mountain and towing driving and I'm wondering if they will ever show any signs of wear. Sounds like someone is riding the brakes.

Wow, looks like the opportunistic pirates at the dealership are hard at work. Went in for a starter issue and they did a "courtesy" inspection on the brakes? LOL

Okay i took the truck for a test drive. Did some panic braking ( in a safe area).
Heated them up and then went back onto the highway did some braking at 50 mph. Yes thats our highways speed limit. Brakes work great, no vibrations or anything weird at all. In fact the truck brakes a lot harder than mine does.

I personally think that the ford dealer is :morons:.

On a side note the pads are getting low. Pad recommendations?

Just the regular powerslots. I did use the thermo quite ones on the last truck and garrett has them on his. I'm trying a new one that is made by wagner. supposed to be a little better but I don't think that it breaks as good.

you've got to anymore...
a lot of guys, techs included call it "looking for work" and it is, but these days you'll starve as a tech if you don't.

Flip side is, it's a CYA for the shop.. with the way juries and lawyers work anymore, go in for a starter, and then crash it with faulty brakes, shop is on the hook.

Judge is gonna ask, "you had it up in the air, didn't you even look at it?"

Let me put it to you this way..
I have two techs in my shop.. one, checks stuff out.
the other, does what the service writer puts on the RO, and backs it out.

They guy that checks stuff out turns 125% flat rate and makes good money.
They guys that backs 'em out hardly ever turns 70%, and has been nearly fired twice by the previous shop super for comebacks (not comebacks as is re-work, comebacks as in the customer and the service adviser didn't guess enough parts at the counter - car has a shimmy, rotate and balance the tires, right? How about the tire that's got big divots in it from the worn out suspension parts?)
