I should be picking up a 2001 7.3 in the next few weeks that has been setting for a few months. I fired it up today and it started up but wouldnt rev up with the pedal was pushed but it seemed to idle just fine. Is there anything I should do immediately to it other than oil change, air/fuel filters, and change all fluids?

I will when I actually get the truck ... was just curious if there is anything other than the obvious maintenance that I should do when I get it. The trucks in pretty rough shape and does not look like it has had much maintenance ever done to it.

How long had it been running? If I start my truck in single digits and don't let it warm up for a few mins it will hardly rev up. If I try immediately.... lol not gonna rev very far

Dont know anything about the truck other than it was running when it was parked about 6 months ago. It was about 28 outside when I started it and I only let it idle for maybe 30 seconds before trying to rev it so it could have just been cold. Also theres no telling how old the fuel is in the tank. The truck has 260k on it so I assume it is going to need some work to get it running reliably.

Will do when I get it in the next week or two. I picked it up for free so figure I cant lose even if I have to do some work to get it running right.

Super dutys have a common issue with the throttle position sensor on the pedal

Cool Ill keep that in mind. I will find out in the morning when I am getting the truck so hopefully it will be a little warmer after I get all the maintenance done and it may not even have a problem at all.

Do the gauges work? If not, the wire running to the OD light might be shorting out on top of the steering column and there should be a fuse blown.
