All,

I'm close to purchasing a used 08 PS 4x4, positively comes with an AFE CAI. No mention of a tuner and the seller usually states if the vehicle comes with one.

My issue is that from the underneath photos it appears that the DPF is removed which would require a tune to run properly. Now if the truck actually has the DPF removed and a tune is on the vehicle(and original tuner M.I.A.) will I be able to purchase a Mini Maxx and retune the vehicle or do they require the stock tune on the truck.

I would prefer to have a stock flash pushed back and retune the vehicle that way.

Thanks for your time,
Shane

I bought my 2010 with a tune and delete with no tuner. When I got the minimaxxx I just tuned over it without any problems

Thanks CKRUEG! Thats good news! I was worried I would need a dealer to reflash it for me then retune.

Thanks,
Shane

Yup. As stated, the current tune will be your(stock) file when the mini, or whatever tuner you purchase, uploads the stock file...

hit me up if i can help you with a tuner, i stock them all . obviously a minimaxx will be your best bet if the truck is mystery tuned.

i don't think that is the case with H&S. i thought they had their own generic files that get flashed to the truck when it gets returned to stock.

SCT saves whatever file is on the trucks pcm.

to the OP-you will be fine with H&S

Think about this for a minute. what about when you first put the minimaxx in. It still stores the factory file.

Glad to see I'm not alone in the confusion. So how would a dealer reflash work? Do I need to take the ECM/PCM out of the vehicle and give it to them? If its more of a I drive in, they hook the 'puter up ta ma cowboy Cadillac, reflash, and I drive away then maybe I can just get them to flash it, then throw the tuner on right after.

What do you guys think?

i dont think so. that is why people prefer H&S for flashing over unknown/corrupted tunes-because it doesnt store what is actually on the trucks pcm...
