I've had recons with stock bases and recon led bulbs for over a year now. Now problems yet and no moisture in them. Everyone I know with recon bases has been through 1 or 2 by now.

For sure stock bases. I have stock bases and recon lenses no troubles. Some type of led 194 amber bulb that also has held up well. If I was changing bulbs I would get some new ones from retro solutions.

I know I have heard bad stuff about recons, but I have had mine on the truck for almost 3 years now and haven't had any peeling of the bases or any leaks (never added any silicone when installed.)

Some lenses and some LED bulbs would probably get you almost the same look, then no worries of an aftermarket product going bad.

~100 bucks buys you new cab bases/lenses. You cannot buy them seperate according to my dealer. Are there any other companies that sell smoked cab lights.

I have clear lenses now. I guess I could do that but I don't like the style setup I have currently.

That was the problem I had, just needed the lens but they would only sell the whole assembly.

What about vht on stock lenses? I'm about to put cab lights on and was going to use recon but after reading this I want to find a different route.

I VHT'd my stock lenses with a few coats of clear after. They looked good for about a season. The sun kills them being on the roof. I'll probably get some Recon lenses...

I put recon lenses on my stock bases... they've let moisture in since day 1. Pretty much every recon item I've put on my truck has had poor quality, but from 10 feet they look good... just not a lot of options on the market.

Have never used these but XDP has Putco smoked lens replacements for 34 bucks. Just the lenses. I had Recons before and they were ok.
