So I ordered a cat delete for the ole girl. Tried pulling the cat of this morning. Got the flange bolts off, hanger loose and clamp loose. How in the hell do you get that SOB to break loose and come out of the exhaust pipe? I've pulled, twisted, tried prying on the pipe to break it loose. Nothing is happening. It will not budge! What's the secret?

PB blaster and keep on fighting. it should eventually come out, but it's certainly not going to be easy. Some motivation from a hammer might help break it free too.

Full exhaust was what I wanted, but I'm about to invest in a full set of injectors. So exhaust isn't in the budget. It already has the muffler delete done.

Sawzall has already crossed my mind! Was hoping to just replace it in one piece, but if all else fails that'll be the route I go.

First mistake was spending big money on a cat delete pipe. Should have just cut on either side then measure the gap. Then go to an exhaust shop and that length of 3.5" pipe and 2 band clamps and been done with it.

Yea well what's done is done. The way I look at it is I'd I ever decide to trade this truck in, I can just pull the delete and slide the cat back on. They gave me hell when I traded my 04 because it didn't have the cat, and I didn't still have it. The $50 I spent on the delete will be worth it to not deal with that again if I ever trade this one.

when i had to get my pipe out of my 06 F150 exhaust, i used a hand sledge and tapped the bracket which made the pipe come out. not sure if that would be applicable to this truck as I havent even began any mods to her yet. GL!

I might try that. Get it loose and pulled down, then some persuasion with a hammer on the flange. Might be able to drive it out forward.

You always over look the obvious!

A little hammer persuasion drove it right out. To my surprise, my cat had been gutted at some point. Thing was empty. Went ahead and put the delete pipe on. Go rid of the rattling sound I had, not sure why, but it did. Truck got ALOT deeper too. Surprised it made that big of a difference in the sound.

Being hollow the exhaust had a place to expand then it had to go back into the smaller pipe again. With the delete pipe it stays one size for smoother flow. Thus giving you a deeper sound.

Kind of like a 2stroke bike and a 4 stroke bike. The 2stroke has the huge expansion chamber then it necks down real small. Givving a higher pitched sound and some rattle.

Where as the 4 stroke is smooth the whole way to the tip. Givving you a smootb deep tone.

sent while looking at my sled. since theres no freeeeking snow!!!!!

That's what I figured. I know about 2500 rpms this thing pops like a sob! My 04 did the same thing, but wasn't near as loud as this one is. Granted, the 04 had 4" turbo back, and this one is stock piping.
