I know this a mundane task at best but I figured I would complete my fuel filter series with the 7.3l. So here it is- How to change the Fuel Filter on a 7.3Powerstroke for all the new owners or current owners wanting to get into maintaining their own vehicle. Hope this helps some.

Just curious, what do you gain from making DIY videos?

easy, pull the cap, pull old out, replace, put cap back on??>
Yes it is almost too easy, I have done too many to count but I have to remember how I used to look at automotive repair back when I first started doing it for a living. I remember I didn't want anything to do with struts or fuel tanks let alone pulling a subframe and now it all seems just like another task no biggie. Yet there allot of people that are like I used to be when I was in my teens not so automotive savvy. I remember I had a 85 blazer that needed a thermostat waited weeks for my dad to change it, then I decided I will do it myself well lots of coolant came out from all over the new parking lot. Now your thinking why wouldn't you drain it, let it cool etc because it seems so simple but to most they are about as automotive savvy as I was when I was a teen. So I do some simple repairs, some major repairs and some diagnosis videos to mix it up.

Just curious, what do you gain from making DIY videos?

I do make money on the videos but it's only a few cents to makybe $5 a year not a real motivator to make more. I love to help with all kinds of repairs and this is my way of doing that. Then I get stories like this on my 6.4l belt tensioner video out of nowhere and it makes it all worth it.-

Thank you for a great video... my wife went to leave the driveway this morning and had no power steering or brakes... I knew it was the serpentine but we live several hours from the nearest garage and or Ford ... I was able to get the parts delivered and your video has helped me with every step to replace both the tensioner and the belt... Thanks for a well detailed video

Or this focus video-
thank you very much for the video. you saved my girl friend lots of $ by training me on how to do it. if all shops were as through as you I would have to have done her car, but because I have no confidence in shops I had to do it myself. I do use permatex anti rattle goo on the back side of the pads and little grease on the caliber brackets under the holding clips to slow the rusting since in Canada we have a high salt use for four months of the year. thanks. keith

Btw, it's never good to toss a new fuel filter into standing fuel.. Drain it first.

wish someone would have mentioned using rags the first time i did mine. lol. fuel all over the top of the motor. also i had a non oem cap/ filter combo on mine but the previous owner gave me an oem filter. filter needed to be changed and didn't feel like waiting for an oem cap to come if i ordered it from online. oem cap from a local ford dealer =$68. WTF. i use one of those rubber strap filter remover things to take mine off. then uber man-hand tight back on. but good video and joe is right it will help someone.

LOL, first time I did mine I threw it in the garbage because the new filter didn't need it. Soon as I checked for leaks after starting the truck I got the cap out of the garbage and went to get a factory filter.

my belief is that certain things are oem for a reason. fuel filter oil filter sensors will always stay oem on my truck or be quickly replaced with oem if aftermarket was needed in a pinch.

Might want to mention that some engines still have the plastic engine cover that should be removed first. Yours is broken which a lot are lol. Great video though.

Drain the valve first, slide a rubber hose up the tube for the drain and have it drain in something. No mess :)

Yes we only use oem around here, yes we are a dealer but still we have options from the parts stores that deliver around here and there are just too many issues not to mention questionable filtration quality, with the motorcraft stuff we know its to a certain standard no guess work it just works.

I've installed 30-40 of the Napa brand with the lid built in... in all of those I've had one leak.

Not sure what you guys are doing wrong, or what I am doing right, but I dont sweat it.
