Check your EBP Sensor tube!!

Im pretty sure there was a buildup of condensation in my tube today. It was super cold today, -15 and as I passed a car on my NO POWER setting, I pegged 54 PSI boost and it blew the gaskets and I pushed coolant! ****!. I consulted the minimax only to find an EBP reading of 0. Boost constantly running higher than normal at this point... Gunna be a costly fix at this point now. Might be worth checking yours out to if its cold in your area...

A wastegate would have bled the BP. I'm not sure why you don't have one with the mod's on your truck.

Stud's and it still blew?

Where is that located?

Sent from a little green goblin under a bridge.

Right behind the driver side head. Small tube coming up from the ex manifold, has a sensor on top of it.

Yes with studs, but I had a previous condition.. I don't think I had to much drive pressure so im not sure a waste gate would have helped here..?
Never installed a gate because my drive pressure hasn't been an issue thus far..

Mine went out the day after Christmas in Fargo, ND -20* with -45* windchill. Only got up to 40 psi, but at 20mph, haha. Unlike you, I fortunately did not have any gasket failure. Maybe I got lucky, cuz it gelled up shortly after! Sorry for the bad luck!!

So didn't you post 54 psi concerned you? You are aware that gating BP controls all the problems that you just said blew a HG?

Mine froze up but the opposite happened. It had zero boost until the 76 lit and then hang on. The ebp was reading 20-30 at idle. Now that its thawed all is well. By the way I carry a spare in my glove box from last year when this happened to me.

54psi shouldnt kill hg's in that short amount of time. the drive pressure coupled with it could have tho, depending on what it was.

Mine froze up twice last year. So I bought a grill bra. No more frozen ebp tube. You could also relocate the sensor and eliminate the tube all together.

I'd be more worried about blowing the high pressure apart than the head gaskets. We see lots of frozen ones leading to blown high pressure chargers from overspeed situations.

Frost bit my face today changing out mine. -44C out but I was tired of it freezing up. Was harder to get at than I thought and only got the old one off before I had to go over to Mom's for supper.

I had a pre existing gasket problem and this large amount of boost, especially from a 72mm was the final straw... Anyone find a fix for this problem?

Should a guy just remove it and clean out the condensation just before the cold season?
Re locate the sensor to a not yet said place?
Wrap the tube in some sort of an insulator?
What can we do?

This is a ridiculous problem to have, but a problem none the less!

my delete kit has a cover for the top flange that is tapped. the flange where the pipe that drops down the side of the motor connect behind motor. i am going to run a piece of ss tubing between the sensor and said flange. the tubing will be on a downward angle to drain back into the exhaust. i hope that does it.

just drill and tap your drivers side egr block off plate.

The sensor needs to be moved to where it will see a constant hot exhaust gas flow by it. The factory location, once EGR deleted is a dead end. Exhaust gas cools & condenses at the block off plate & moisture accumulates over time, especially in cooler winter weather. Take a dip in temperature like the last week & it freezes up & everything goes for S>>T.
Running 6.0 ltr manifolds & moving the sensor to factory location provided should solve the issue. If running stock 6.4's like me, I like the idea of slacking the bottom bolt in the block off plate and create a little exhaust leak to reduce the condensation & if any water forms it can dribble out. At least when it's well below freezing.
Probably no matter where the sensor is located, it should come out once a year to clean out any soot accumulations.
