Got a pint of ford blue and three spray cans of the same. One can of aluminum paint. One can of vht header paint in black. Pullinv the motor to get at some oil leaks ive been chasing unsuccessfully. Does ferd make a seal kit for this very purpose?

Also who else has done this? How did ya do and what did ya do that you wish you would have done differently?

Depends on what is leaking. But i have bought a few gasket kits from ford in the past two years. If not use the grey motorcraft rtv.

Im pulling the.motor anyway, so I figured why leave old heat cycled rubber in there? My goal is to not need worry about parking on someones driveway. Ill just call ferd in the am. Need to get an oilpan too.

I got a gallon of wax n grease remover also. Im assuming everyone uses that as part of the prep? Anyone have pics of their motor painted? Especially silver and blue?

Ive chosen the old ford blue since its not fluorescent but its not.so.dark that the oil will be visible if it leaks ever again. Ive got enough to do all silver too. There was an international red that looked decent..

What ya got fellas?

Nobody does this.kinda crap?

Im going to mix some simplegreen and hot water as my initial cleaning agent. Im hoping to wash much of the grime off. I.degreased twice.last year so it shouldnt be too bad. Then ill use the wax n grease remover, sand it a little, and then ill hit it the paint. The paint says primer is unnecessary.

Im just a little torn between using silver paint or blue.paint for the block. The blue.would look ni cd e.but the silver would look like clean metal.

Anybody done.all silver?

My block is painted black but I really wish I would have done silver incase I ever had a leak it would make it a lot easier to spot!

Here is the best shot I can find of my engine as it was going back together

The blue is a fair bit lighter than black( I know, obviously) but I just wondered how dark it would seem. Maybe it would serve.me well to go silver and use the blue for accents.
We'll see.

IMO the best degreaser you can use is mineral spirits.

Twn four! I have thirty gallons of that. I got a gallon of wax n grease remover that is basically acetone but has something else in it too. Im gonna try that stuff after I wash it.down.
