I replaced the clutch master cylinder and the small bracket that the rod attaches to under the dash. I bought everything used from the local junk yard but now that everythings back together pedal feels good but it's not releasing inside the transmission to allow it to go into gear. I've bled it several times and still nothing. It feels like it's not pushing the rod in far enough and when i lay under the truck and have somebody pump the pedal for me it's barely moving the rod in the slave cylinder. I know the bracket that rod attaches to under the dash is splined but it only seems like it will fit in one or two places. I'm just wondering if I need to try and adjust the bracket on the splines or if the master cylinder I bought is a piece of crap. The truck that the mster cylindr came out of was a F350 with a 460 in it. Would that make a difference? If I can't figure it out I'm just going to try a new one from autozone tomorrow if they have it in stock.:cursing:

They are a pain in the ass to bleed. You could even have gotten a bad used part. Save yourself the headache and go to the dealer and get the pre-bled assembly and install it. It is more expensive than used but it will work first time without all the hassle.

Got it figured out now. The used one i bought was made a little bit different and the rod wouldn't go in far enough to disengage it. Long story short it's fixed after a new one from autozone foir 43 bucks. Starts like a brand new truck now lol
