I'm in Michigan and there calling for some pretty cold, below zero, weather next week here. Should I run anti gel fuel treatment? I used to run it all the time in my Duramax's and was wondering what guys from the north do with there 6.4's in the cold. If so, what should I use? Thanks guys..........

it couldn't hurt to run a mild ulsd treatment, also watch out for biodiesel levels at colder temps. would be beneficial to regularly drain some fuel off from the water separator incase of contamination

Really fuel is fuel, it doesn't matter if it's in a Duramax or a 6.4. I run the white bottle of power service in my trucks (trailer trucks to pickups) in the winter, doesn't matter if it's 50 degree's when fueling, we always use it that way when it does get cold there's no issues with the fuel. If your at all worried I'd treat it, it's pretty cheap compared to the headaches of a gelled up truck in my opinion.

i run standedyne every tank.. my gf just got started on it in her cummins, I would assume that fuel stations there would have switched to winter blend by now, i know they have here. anyways the Gf hasnt had a single problem with gelling @ -20s before with no additive

I got some rev-x stuff coming. But I haven't used anything yet. It 's been cold enough here, -40c and below, but I've zero issues running nothing. Maybe we've got good winter fuel.

I'm with the guys above, every tank year round gets power service... only takes one bad tank of fuel to wipe out your fuel system

Im surprised the difference it makes with powerservice, i use it year round aswell.

As far as?

I used.power services diesel kleen and it was a.great product.but.then in 07 they switched to dieselkleen being a "summer" additive, and the white being an antigel. Diesel Kleen originally was a good additive. Now it will make your mileage consistent. I found it would make bad diesel better and it would actually REDUCE mileage on good fuel. Problem is, that way you didnt know what was what. I stopped using diesel kleen and with in a month I knew who had junk.fuel and now I only buy it two places. Mark, aka atsah, turned me on to ford performance cetane improver and I all but forgot about dk or white PS. I think we get decent fuel here because not many guys run additives.

Has anyone read the MSDS sheet for Power Service Diesel Kleen +Cetane Boost ... the grey bottle?

They list aluminum under "Materials to avoid"

"MATERIALS TO AVOID:
May react with strong oxidizing agents, such as; chlorates, nitrates, peroxides, etc.; alkalis; lead and lead alloys; aluminum."

Found on page 6 of 9

Lived 6 years in Alaska. Saw 20-40 below or colder many times, even saw 65 below a few times. Ran Howes alot and tried a few treatments, and never once had my trucks gel up. In run two stroke oil and Fuel Bomb treatment in mine now. Never have an issue, plus the truck stays garaged in the winter Months

We must get crap fuel because right after i started useing it my mpg went up. I also noticed the truck started and ran a lil better aswell.

Thats what I discovered too. Its a good product in that regard but if you stay local, as my 7.3 does now, you can figure out your fuel sources quality and either use an additive or not. Im fairly sure that I can live without additive. I like the ford cetane.boost as a whole bottle will get cetane numbers where they should be per the.design parameters of th e 7.3. I know mobil oil salesman running it their duramaxes!

My duramax, in an unrelated note, gels up very easily. All of mine have. I run white power service addi from October to April.
