19000 miles and i came out to a puddle of coolant yesterday. checked it out and found the lower hose leaking. Went in for warranty repair. is this a common issue with these things?

i hope the dealer is smart enough to fix both, especially since ford has issued a technical service bulletin on this. checked with a guy that works at a dealer in California. thats how i found out about the TSB.

I doubt they replace both. They aren't going to warranty something that isn't broke or leaking.

watching history channel now. They just had a bit on the mayans and ended it with, Maybe the mayans had seen something for 12/21/12 but we will have to wait and see. :pint:

I am still waiting!!!!! :pint: And running out of vodka! Maybe they had seen what would happen if Wisconsin ran out of alcohol.

I'm not going to say they won't blow off but since they have a metal snap ring type of thing to keep that from happening I doubt they will

I've ran mine leaking for quite awhile. Had just a slow leak. Replaced my lower first and just did my upper. Both leaked right after each other. And they are super easy to replace too.

Do you still have the bad lower hose? I will buy it if so...

Thank you,

My father-in-law just got back from a dealer in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
He has a 2009 that had a leak. I looked at it yesterday for him, and by just squeezing the hose, it was like I was milking a cow...the hose leaked that bad.
He took it in, and first of all, they charged him $75.00 to look at it, and then gave an estimate of repair of $542.00
May have to replace the Lower hose too, but that is extra.

They aren't so fun if the coolers are still in tact. But that's a steep price to r&r both hoses

Yeah...his truck still has all the coolers, etc.
He has an AFE intake, DPF delete, and a Black Max tuner.
When I could barely get my arm up inside to grab the hose to squeeze it, I said that it was gonna cost him...

To release the hoses, what do you do, just pull on the wire clip?

I would do the work for him, but he doesn't wanna wait a week or two for pars to show up. (Buy them from the States.)

Yes take the wire clips totally off and discard them the new hoses will come with them already in place. Do not take the wire clips of the new hoses. When u put the new hose on there are notchs u got to line up that are on the hose to the water pump that need to be lined up and on the radiator u will figure it out. Just slip it on and the wire ring will snap and that's how u kno uve got it on.
