Hello everyone,

What do you all run for coolant in your 7.3? Cat or motorcraft? I'm going to put a new water pump in the truck this weekend so she will be in need of new coolant. Thanks in advance.

I ran Motorcraft gold for the first batch, then when due I switched to CAT ELC.

Seemed to be OK for about 6k miles until the coolant and oil wanted to find an escape route behind the rod that left as well...... uke:

There are some good writeups about properly flushing the old coolant out first.

I got Rotella ELC from my local International dealer. The red stuff!

Bunch of discussion on this... Google it. All forums will have write ups. 100% concentrate ELC 4 gallons, top off with 4 gallons distilled water.

I'm using the Fleet Charge ELC with SCA added in my obs now.....I'm pretty sure it's an acceptable coolant LOL

Yeah that stuff, SCA pre-charged. That's what I'm running in my 2001 and my bro's running in his 2007. I wasn't sure if it was an ELC or not though.

Evans waterless coolant. Probably just bought into the marketing hype, but it does work well. No complaints last 2 years.

Cheapest green coolant I could get. Then added a 24071 bypass filter setup. Every 10k gets more sca!!!

Prestone extreme heavy duty elc. Or something like that. Its the red stuff. In a black container. Its near double the regular stuff.

It is already added. It only requires SCA added every 100K. Heck, the old girl deserves fresh coolant for every additional 100K she makes it IMO.

Think I paid $20 per gallon of concentrate at the International dealer here in Arlington.
