I have LED lights in my dome and map lights. Sometimes the dome lights stay lit dimly when they should be off. So I tried to remedy this by installing a resistor across the LED bulb and clipping it into the dome light prongs. Well my dome light doesn't work now. So I took the resistor off and tried a new bulb, no luck, the bulb is good because it works the map light spot. My rear dome light works but my front dome light doesn't. Anyone know a good troubleshooting starting point?

Have you checked the fuses, or checked to see if you are getting current across the socket? Have you tried to flip the bulb and put in in in the opposite direction?

I checked the fuses and they are all fine, which I figured they would be because the back dome light still works. I haven't checked current yet, I ran out of time last night with other things going on and I didn't even think about flipping the bulb  I'll go out and do that in a little bit.

I meant how the dome light stays dimly lit all the time.

oh lol. I bought a pack of resistors at radio shack that I will hopefully get in sometime this week. it was under 2 bucks for the pack of 5. I'll let you know if they work or not when I get the resistors in

Okay everyone, I just did this in my truck and it seems to be working just fine.
I got a pack of resistors from Radio Shack. They were $1.59.

Take your LED bulb out of the socket and cut the ends of the resistor so that the resistor is the same length as the bulb (the tan part of the resistor needs to stay in the middle of the bulb)
Now the tricky part: Pop the bulb back into the socket with the resistor on the top side of the bulb (facing away from the LEDs) Its tricky, I used a pocket screwdriver to help push the bulb in while I held the other side, if you can get 1 side clipped in it's smooth sailing from there.
hope this helps everyone.
