Cruise issue?

The cruise control has been working fine. Now it disengages when ever I'm going up a steep hill, usually with the trailer. It happens when more than about 1/4 throttle is needed to maintain speed.

No CEL light, no codes other than the chip code. I do have a resister on the brake light switch because I eliminated the 3rd brake light and cargo bulbs. I used the econo tune, so boost was around 11 psi when the cruise disengaged? Boost will go up to ~21 psi.

Of course this began on my trip to Yellowknife (5875 miles). Other than the cruise, no problems. Mileage was 14.7 to 18.1 pulling the tin can.

The first thing that I would do with something like this is to pull the chip and get it back to stock and see if it happens.

Tried removing the chip, the problem remains. Anything else, I would really like to not have to take it to the stealership?

Thanks, I did. The cruise does not disengage randomly. It only disengages when more than about 1/4 throttle is applied by the pcm.
Pretty sure that's normal.
Requested throttle doesn't have much to do with it.
It's speed loss.
Iirc, something like a 5mph drop will cut off cruise.

My truck has more than enough power to maintain speed. The cruise
control will not give the engine enough throttle. When it disengages,
I just give it some throttle until I'm back up to speed. Then, reset cruise.
