Anyone have some pics or directions on how to do this? I may put my HD grill and lights on this weekend.

I don't have pics of the cutting process but ive done a few. Very simple. Pretty much a 8"x9" square behind the headlight. I trim till it fits. You don't use the 03 style retainers. They get cut out completely. I would honestly buy a header panel. They're like $80 aftermarket an fit good. The 99-04 panel has. No way of fastening the bottom of the newer style grill.

i would just buy the header panel danny. the grill will clip in where as on the older style it wont at the bottom. although some times i wish mine didnt its a pain in the ass to get those clips to let free.

I had to cut up a little.higher than that smitty. I got my lights to fit snugly without putting any screws in. Im impressed that my lights are as solid as they are considering I removed most of the panel behind the headlights.

I removed exactly what was shown in those pics, and they fit perfect, didn't even have to go back and trim anything. I used the screw holes at the bottom, then some plastic GM Body panel push fasteners to hold it at the top, never had a problem.
