Well picked up a truck a month or so ago and I love it. As luck would have it the 4x4 isn't working. T case seems to be spinning the front shaft. When I did my front left breaks I locked the hub and spun it and it did spin the shaft. I haven't done the pass sidr breaks yet. Wondering what you all think I should look at? I plan on popping the diff cover off presidents day weekend. The hubs seem to pop louder than normal when locked in and driving. The kid that had it before me seemed to take pretty good care of it, but I have never had this issue before. Any help is appreciated.

Good point, manual shift 4x4 with a 6 speed.

Are you sure your engaging the hubs right? I had a boss who somehow had one hub locked and the other unlocked. So every time he got out to engage 4x4 he would engage one hub and unlock the other. Couldnt figure out why 4x4 never worked. LOL

That was a joke. I locked the hubs, engaged the 4x4, backed up 20 feet, and eased in to the mud. Romped on it a few times and only the back tires spun. So I left it in gear and got out. I can see the front shaft spinning but the tires aren't grabbing. I've had 6 super dutys and have never had an issue working 4x4. Not really sure what to do other than checking the diff and replacing the hubs.

Differential is most likely not the problem.
Pull, clean, and lube the locking hubs.

That's what I've got. No issues with them last year or this year with snow. My truck never sees mud though. I didn't get the chance to pull them apart or grease them over the summer either. I leave them locked all winter and unlock them in late April or May when the snow is done. No issues.

Do they still click when they are locked in like the factory hubs do?

Figured just thought I'd check. I've never run them with out the 4x4 engaged. Living down here anything that isn't pavement is like a swamp so I prefer to leave them engaged during the winter.

Yea. You'll have more wear on your seals and stuff from everything in the front axle always moving, but I leave mine locked 4 months out of the year so it's ready when I need them.
