I dicided to port my own manifold, have done all with die grinder, and saw all. I could have used mill but what fun would that be, besides I wanted to show it can be done with hand tools. Now how the he** I'm I going to get it back together, JB weld, bondo, epoxy, No I'm going to weld the whole thing back together. I had some extra time at work so I figured why not play with a manifold. I picked this one up cheap so if it doesn't work who cares, I did notice that while I was cutting the manifold apart that there was alot of build up in it( soot, carbon). If someone was taking the manifold off to do maintenance, it would be well worth having it professionally cleaned, that by itself would help the flow. Here's some pictures of the progress, and far from being done.

I will not be making these for sell, it is just an example of what can be done.I don't even know if it will flow very good, not saying it will or not, just something to play with at work.

Lookin good! wonder what the next MAD product will be....

No thanks, it's not going to happen. Takes way to much time to do this mod, I would rather just hang with the turbos. I'm thinking about sending it to soot power to have him flow check it just for kicks, or just stick it on the truck and see what it will do. I have a stock intake now, I could pull a dyno with it or track it, and then change the manifold only to see what happens, what you guys think?

I like the idea of flow benching it but in the end it all comes down to whether it makes power or not. I would think though that one would correlate with the other. JMO.

Thats one of my things to do when I get home. Plan on going to the salvage yard and pick a couple up to play with. That is of course after I get the mad turbo installed.

Haven't you learned anything since becoming a member here?!

You're not supposed to show pictures of the inside of your ported manifold.

LOL

Oops, I totally forgot that rule, but I thought as long as you weren't going to produce them for sell it would be ok. I never ordred a ported manifold so this is all my MAD ideas, if it works, great eveyrone will know what I did, if not then don't do what I did.........:hammer:
Just hope it helps some of the members later on.:ford:

you need a jig to hold it true so it doesnt warp. Just weld where it was cut.

Its seriously that easy, a caveman can do it.

Aren't they cast? The manifold is still together there's just a hairline crack. Do u have to use a.special wire or anything

Tig... I can wire feed it with a spool gun, Tig usually looks much nicer though and you can ensure good penetration

Would be alot easier with the spary sealer, if it can seal a screen door for a boat bottom then it should hold up to 30-45psi of boost........LOL

You can use marine grade epoxy, the majority of that stuff is stronger than crappy cast aluminum anyways
