This is on my 04 6.0. It blew the gaskets again and I am assuming its a warped or cracked head so I am doing new heads that will be going to the machine shop to get checked out. It will be getting 155's from cass with stock nozzles for right now. I am also doing a bed plate while I am in there because mine is seeping a little. Now since I am going to be taking the bottom end apart should I get the lip on my bowl of the pistons machined at all so they wont crack in the future like my 6.4 did or is the small piston size not have the issue with cracking? Also I was doing some looking and did any one have any numbers on doing like a stage 1 cam on a 6.0? All I can seem to find is info on 6.4 cams and when I did a stage one cam on my 6.4 I did to much other stuff at once to see if there was a benefit. Any other little things I am over looking while I have it apart? Let me know what you guys think.

I would skip the piston machining, doesn't seem to be needed on these, especially only going with 155's.

The cam is $600

If you do the cam, I would highly recommend doing the cam, the valve springs, and the pushrods as well. I think when I was pricing this out the total came to about $1200 for all of that. That was for the Colt cam, which quite a few vendors seem to sell, RCD valve springs, and Smith-bro's pushrods. I think those are around $250 or so.

I would do it... I just didn't have the coin at the time and then I ended up just doing a cab-off so I didn't have to pull the motor either.

Okay kinda what I was thinking, does any one have any info yet on 6.0's to back up the cams?

Jared said you gain power in the top end and its easier to tune. Don't notice any difference until you get in the top end. I didn't have the money to do it, otherwise I would have. But yes, if you do can, do rods, springs, etc.

There are a few guys running them. I know the guys @ Holder have put them in a few customers trucks, supposed to help drivability a ton.

We have never got "dyno proven results", but IMO it deff helped higher rpm range. I think they are worth while for the money, might as well while your out. It's your only chance

I have no hard data to back it up, but I think the cam is a big help. I have an Elite Stage 1 cam, with their stage 1 ported heads, so stock valves. I can say that my truck spools a turbo very well. I have ridden in plenty of the truck running the garret Powermax turbo and have seen the dead spot that a lot of people talk about with that turbo. But, when I had the powermax on my truck it spooled much better than I have experienced on any other truck, even ones with larger injectors. It was very difficult to get under that turbo. I can't really say if it helped in the top end or not, but if you are going to pull the motor, I would install one.

Might as well try it... I was going to do a cam in mine when I did the build but decided not to because of the fact that it really isn't proven. Would love to see what it does for you

Interesting, that's the exact kinda info I am looking for. Did you do the springs to?

LOL Thanks.... I am in the same boat not wanting to be a guini pig but I guess I already did it to the 6.4 so I might as well on the 6.0.

No springs, entirely stock valvetrain, besides the cam. I don't think the cam can hurt. Whether or not it is worth the cost is really up to you.
