Door lock help!

Hey guys, I have a 96 F250 Crew Cab with power door locks. My question is regarding the driver side rear door lock mechanism.

A few years ago the actuator went out on both rear doors. I was still able to pull the lock tab up and down from the inside, but that got to be a pain so I replaced them.

After doing so, I realized I could still pull the tab up and down manually on the passenger side door, but NOT the driver side door. I still have no idea why, but it simply would not budge. However, both rear door locks worked just fine when I used the power lock buttons on either of the front doors so I didn't think much of it.

Recently we got hit with some cold weather and the locks were frozen pretty stiff. I managed to get onto the driver side front door with the key, but I needed to get into the driver side rear door and the power locks weren't working to unlock the rear, so I reached back and tried to give it a good tug, hoping I might be able to yank it free. Well, I managed to yank it WAY TOO free. The whole threaded rod portion of the lock assembly (the part that the tab that sticks out the top of the door panel screws onto) broke completely off. I can now pull the whole threaded rod and lock tab out the top of the door panel.

What I need to know is; what does that threaded rod connect to inside the door? I'm assuming there's some sort of linkage or joint that secures it to another part of the lock assembly, but I haven't had a chance to take the door panel off and inspect it as it's still too cold outside and I'm sick as a dog. So I'm hoping someone here can give me some insight as to what part failed so I can at least get it ordered and be ready to fix it when the weather warms up a bit.

Best way (if you take off the door panel and can't figure it out) is to remove the door panel on the opposite side for reference. You may have broken a plastic clip for one of the control rods. Many times, the rod going across the door (from lock side to latch side) will be sort of jammed up by a tiewrap used to hold it to the door inner panel. Hope that makes sense. Been years since I replaced the actuators on my old 94. Cheers!

Ok thank you. A broken plastic clip connecting to the control rod is my guess as well. Any idea what the part # is for those clips? Or what the proper term is so I can search for them?
