I've got a spent transmission on my 2000 superduty. And I just wrote off my 2002 superduty via Greetings of a Moose. Both have about 400,000 k on them. I do have fresh injectors in the 02 with a fresh tow trans. Will have any issues it's the same 7.3l in both. Should just be plug in play correct? I only have the weekends to work on it so any help with issues I can prepare for would be sweet. Thanks.

Are you talking about just swapping the trans, or the motor and the trans?

If I was you, I would keep the 2000 motor and put the 2002 trans behind it. Get injector oring kits and swap the newer injectors out of the 2002 into the 2000 and roll on.

That way you keep your forged rods and an injector swap is way easier than a motor swap.

Trans plugs are same. Engine plugs are same, but how the engine harness attaches to the engine compartment harness is different in 02-03. As long as you use the right engine harness with the right engine compartment harness you will not have any issues.

I screwed that up when I swapped motors between my 2000 and my 2003. Cost me a pcm in the 2003.

So if he puts the 2003 trans, in the 2000 truck, he keeps the 2000 harness, correct?
If he puts the 2003 motor and trans in the 2000 truck, he keeps the 2000 harness, correct?

However, if he swaps the 2003 PCM into the 2000 truck, he also has to swap the 2003 engine harness, trans harness, probably the instrument cluster and cluster harness. Possibly even the fuel pedal. Correct?

Yes. The pin out for the 42 plug and a few other plugs is different between 99-01 and 02-03.

You can swap the motor or trans between the 2 with no problems, but if you swap wiring or pcm you have to swap everything.

Thanks guys I'm not sure if I'll do the motor swap or not. I have to get this old girl run here fairly quick I'm going to need it for work. But aslong as I keep the the wiring harness from the 2000 in the 2000 and just swap the engine I shouldn't run into any problems. I would like to do the HPOP and the oil pick up pump before I throw it back in. Or am I just wasting time. Both trucks run pretty good. But I don't want to put a bunch of time into it and have to tear it apart right way.
