I am getting a nice klunk from the drive-line of my 08 ccsb. I am leaning towards the slip joint being the culprit but would like to check the pinon bearings at the same time and am having a hard time finding a spec for end play or rolling resistance.
Has anyone done a carrier bearing drop for a rear axle lift? whats a good rule of thumb for the angles be, split it evenly between both shafts?

would undercoating on the pinion shaft vibration dampner cause any problems, the previous owner went rattle can happy on it under neath.

feels like a hard shift. it does it when you change between forward and reverse, or a stop sign with an incline to wind up the suspension one direction that twist it the other way to get going. took it to ford and they told me they did not find anything. The only thing i can come up with is the leafs rocking and contacting with the overload slapping the upper leafs.

The slip is easy to grease. Just use wire cutters to cut the metal band.
Jack the truck up by the hitch so the axle will drop some.
I used a thick zip tie to as the metal band.
I have seen them make a clunk.
