Drivers side battery positive cable getting very hot. Need help fast

Took cables off my drivers side battery on my 02 7.3 to clean the corrosion off. I reconnected the terminals and the positive wire got very hot and started burning the rubber. I don't think this is normal. I need help fast I need my vehicle working

Did you clean the clamps as well. I mean really clean them until they are shiny again. If they look dark they are oxidized and you need to clean the oxide layer off to improve continuity. Poor electrical connections cause wires to overheat. If you have a multimeter you can also check continuity. It is also best to coat the clamps and terminals to prevent oxidization.
