So I'm going to run a dual SD fuel pump system on my 96 f250 and am wondering what all you other OBS guys did before the fuel tank selector as far as line size goes. I dont want to get rid of both tanks as I just replaced them.

Im going to be running a set of 300/200 inj, will the stock fuel lines from the tank to the selector valve be enough?? after that its all 6an (3/8) line to the engine right now with a single pump, but adding a 2nd pump for flow...

What I did was add a 38 gallon bronco tank and looped both tanks together with two fuel sumps using the drain holes and used the 38 gallon as the primary tank to pull from. When it gets low the 16.5 front tank starts to fill it. Linked them together using 1/2 line up to the pump and 3/8s after

so after looking around I'm thinking of doing the bronco tank, just wondering how easy it was?? did the filler neck line up for you?? did you modify your stock sending unit to lengthen it?

I just bought the sending unit extension from LMC truck. Filler neck was easy but I do have a dually. However F250 trucks I've done the mod on worked without an issue. I used F Superduty filler necks to allow the use of the large diesel nozzle, but you can also use the SD filler necks which are large too. You might be able to wire up the bronco sending unit to work with the wiring on the truck and just plumb in a return and do a sump for pick up. I've never done it that way.

why not run a pump off each tank through toggle switches and bypass the selector all together... on tank gets low flip on the otger tank and shut off the other... then while horsing around or wot runs run both pumps... is that doable or stupid... wondered why the obs guys never tried something like this? or have they? just curious.

What if one tank is empty and the others full and the full tank pump poops out?? with the setup with both tanks into one if one pump craps out( and all the pumps suck the same) you can still have the other to drive on! i though about a setup like that but also thought about the above too

you would still retain the fuel gauges... wouldnt be that hard to monitor them. but yeah using the drain valves as tank equalizers would be best. i was just thinking you could utilize the stock pickup tubes is all.

well installed the bronco tank with my weld on sump kit. came out great. used threaded rod and stock obs bottom tank straps with bronco straps on top.. it definetly hangs lower. going to be running 1/2" line from the sump to the water seperator then 3/8 to my duel SD pump setup.. working on mounting the pumps and running the lines. do i need to keep the entire tank selector valve for the fuel gauge to work or can i just cut and splice those wires? I'm going to cap off the draw side of the sending unit but still use the stock return. with the sump being so low is it ok to run the line up and down the frame rail?

well got a lil ahead of my self and forgot to install the skid plate! :fustrate: oh well I'll drop it down and modify the skid plate to clear my sump... or do you guys think its ok to just have the tank bottom there expoded?? its above the rear axle about 7-8 inches so its not supper low... I have a 4" lift and 315 tires so that helps get it up a little... any othere ideas to help protect the tank??
