Last weekend I wasted the whole weekend trying to install a delete pipe.
I purchased the whole kit and 2 things stuck out.
#1 The coolant hose was too big. It fit really loose and before I could even get it a chance to leak I got a smaller hose.
#2 The up-pipe s$cked @ss.
I spent 2 days trying to get the exhaust leaks to stop. Both manifold flanges were leaking and even the marmon flange/turbine inlet leaked. There was exhaust smoke filling the engine compartment and the truck was 100% not drivable.
Fast forward to last weekend.
I took the factory up-pipe and welded the egr hole shut. I then welded the up-pipes together for simplicity. I dropped it in and w/o any fuss everything bolted up perfect 100% no problems, no leaks.
I measured the two side by side and there was almost a 1/2" difference between the factory pipe and the delete pipe. Now I know why I couldn't get sh$t to line up the first umpteen times.
I'm waiting to hear back from the seller. Also this had me thinking. Guys have complained about blown bellows. I wonder how many of those were deleted units?? I say that because if someone was lucky enough to get things to line up by some miracle, the bellows will be stretched out enough that I could see them wearing out faster.
Anyway, maybe this will help someone and it's a cheap way to do it.
Get the coolant delete tube then weld your up-pipe and viola. Your deleted for less than $50 bucks and your back to 3 bellows. If someone really wanted to they could buy some new one's cut the old ones out and redo all their bellows for under 120 bucks.
