Just bought a truck with a locked up engine. Drove through high water and died. Then cranked and locked up. They got the water out of the cylinders and with the glow plugs out it still won't crank. So guess I will pull it out and see what is going on, unless anyone has a better idea. My question is how to pull the motor with out being able to get the converter bolts out. Thanks guys.

Does the starter sound like it is engaging. I have seen a starter burn out on a locked engine. If you don't hear the starter at least clicking you need to pull it and get it tested. Also try turning the motor with a breaker bar. It may have a ridge of rust in the cylinders.

Honestly, just fill the cylinders with ATF and let it do its thing. Other than that you can pull the motor with the TC on it. Just support the trans so it comes out without jarring the input shaft

I'd say either the starter, or there's a bent rod or piece of a piston locking it up, how long has it been sitting?

Hydro locking an engine can do some ridiculous damage to an engine, I've seen it, it may not be as simple as getting the water out and lubing up the cylindrrs

only been sitting about 5 days. I'm prepared for internal damage. It sounds like the starter is engaging just cant turn it.

Tried turning the motor by hand with a flywheel wrench. No luck. It's locked up tight. Guess will pull it apart and look for a engine.

when you tried to turn it over by hand were the glow plugs out?
if they were in you really may have to put some azz into rolling it over.

Glow plugs are out. It won't budge either way. Thought might be able to roll it backwards but it ain't gona happen. I would sell it for the right price although it's still on the trailer from me buying it last night.

I'm going to tear into it ASAP. Hopefully by the weekend. I've pulled motors before but this will be my first 7.3. Any pointers?

Take entire front clip off.. Grill, core support, radiator, set condenser off to the side and bungee it to the hood so you dont have to disconnect ac. Turbo comes out too.
