Hello fellas! Well the time has come for me to rebuild. I think.. Although the timing isn't the best financially. But I have to start getting a game plan in place.

Current set up is 180cc single shots
Hypermax turbo set up.
DIY Tymar
ARP studs
Trans was built by Jimmy Converse and has been solid for the past 6 years and still happy.

The motor I'm hoping to use was original in the truck. 2000 7.3
It let go internally and I haven't done a tear down on it yet. I'm hoping the block, heads, crank and whatever other internals that are worth re using can be used. Hopefully some of you guys will have some input there as well?

My current engine may be hanging a valve, because I've broken a couple rocker arms and a few push rods in the same location. And I'm not sure how many miles are on it. Guessing between 100,000 and 150,000 mi. Trying to limp this one around till I can get the other rebuilt. The bummer is, other than occasionally screwing up a rocker arm and push rods, it runs awesome and has zero issues that I know of. I have considered rebuilding the set of heads on the old engine and putting those on..?

I'm open to any and all experienced suggestions and input. What parts are recommended, guesstimated costs, vendors etc..

Thanks so much in advance.

All in all depends on your power level and the intended use of the truck.. If you never plan to make north of 500hp, find a decent "forged" motor, add a set of head studs, some 910s, smith bros.. You can find lots of good running engines out there... But if you are dead set on building an engine, yes go through the heads, use new valves, seals, find a reputable head shop that can build them right.. The bottom end is a toss, stock Mahle pistons, clevite bearings, have the crank checked, align hone ect.. Look at the cam closely ect.. If you've actually rebuilt an engine these aren't bad to build back to stock to 450-500hp.. Anything over that you're gonna have to pay attention TO alot of things.

Big thanks for the input. For now I'll get my backup heads pulled and rebuilt with the comp 910's, and Smith Bros push rods, (ARP's are already in). Then hopefully soon, I'll get started on that bottom end and get it all together a little later.

Thanks again!

When I did mine I went through everything from top to bottom. Atleast then you will know what you have.
