I was stumbling around online the other day and saw stuff about PMR vs forged rods so curiosity got the best of me and figured I would check the serial number I didn't care enough to pull the plug and be certain since I keep it pretty stock and don't care to make big power out of it but my truck is a 2001 so it's at the point where it's right In the middle of it all the info said "Start of production thru 1425746 are Forged Rods.
1425747 thru 1440712 are Powdered Rods.
1446713 thru 1498318 are Forged Rods.
1498319 thru final production run are all powdered."
And my engine number is 1933352

So my question: Has my engine been changed?
Approximate year then?

I don't remember the engine number but my build date is 2/01 and I have forged rods. I'll look at the number in a few.

Is there another place for a serial number? That little flat spot by the oil filter has nothing on it.

Sticker on the driverside valve cover and I heard about a sticker on the hpop reservoir. I got no stickers so that wasn't useful for me

The serial number checkjng is pointless as of now. Its been wrong way too many times and who knows what or who has layed hands on a motor by now.

Fwiw, my 03 was one of the last ones built and it had forged rods. I was the only owner of it until oct of 07.
Worst running pos ive ever ran across. It was eventually converted to a mvk pcm and had a 100hp chip (that was my thing back then  ). I sold it when I got a dui in 07 and kept the extras off of it and kept my 00.

Anyway, my point is we checked the rods before I ever tuned it and it had forged rods. Im 2/2 on 7.3s.
