Finally had time to get the rod check plug out of my block today(someone stripped it out and i just finally felt like actually getting it out. Engine serial number falls in about the middle of the second run of forged motors. found out it has pmr. So what are people running on pmrs now? I know people say 450 is the max but it seems like with the tuning advances now that you could go beyond that. If I'm limited to 450 I think I'll be looking at a 6.0 or a 6.4 in the very near future.

What was your serial number? Where did you find the info about what serial numbers had what rods?

Also, was it pretty easy to see what rods you had once you got the plug out?

Don't remember mine I had it written down. I searched google for the list, I think it's on psn or .org. It was a pain to get it to where I could see the bolt but as soon as you catch a glimpe of it, it's obvious.

Yeah, if you are in the second run of numbers, it is kind of hit and miss. Once they started using PMR's, they could pop up anywhere.

Already looking at 6.0 and dmaxs now. It's a pain already seen a few adds for trucks that are around 700hp with a bully dog... may just be to much power for me if it has a bully dog:doh:

I would not get rid of your truck because it has PMR's. You would be surprised how 450hp feels in a 7.3 anyway. I'm sure you will be satisfied with it.

And if you aren't... Than find an extra 7.3 block and slowly build it up.

jbone- I'm already at or over 400hp. 450hp is pushing the limits on pmrs. If I hit 450 I wouldn't feel comfortable taking it to the track or even racing at all, so there goes the point of adding any more power. And it may be a better route in the long run to upgrade to the newer motors.

Colton- I'm going to think about that one, it could actaully work. I'm sure me and you could probably have the swap done in a weekend if we have an engine hoist to do it. Would be a good time to do studs and springs at that point :evil

I just want to eventually get to around 550hp without being able to see my crank from the wheel wells haha

As I think about a motor swap seems like it could a good route. tho if I dont use self control it could get more expensive than a new truck.
