Ever since I ******d my truck a couple months ago, it makes this howling/whining noise from the front of the truck/engine bay. It doesn't do it cold, only when I've been driving a bit. If you pop the throttle it will go away, and sound normal again. Maybe it's normal, I'm not sure. Only reason I'm concerned is because a buddy just spent 12k having a whole new fuel system in his truck. He told me that the fuel pump was making a slight sound while it was self destructing but he didn't know any better. I just don't want this to happen to me. My truck has 35k miles on the ticker. Thanks for any help you guys can share.

Probably your fuel filter, get used to it, some of us have it 24/7 no matter if it's stock filter or aftermarket. If it does it as soon as you turn the key on, that's where I'd start.

Is it belt squeal or a different type of sound?

I have it too, I'm also using an AFE lower filter and H&S upper. Will try stock filters next time. If it still doesn't fix it. I'll be buying all the lines that are quick connect. And changing them

My whine is back, had it with stock, have it with the H&S... Also chasing down a noise in the front suspension but that's another story...

Does it sound like this OP?

My quick connects let in air before pressure builds up and seats them, then it quiets down. If you wiggle the quick connects you can tell that's where the noise is coming from, you can also feel the vibration in the line/filter.

Yeah that's the only thing I can think of, that would make a whine/scream noise under the hood, that isn't super serious. If you messed with the fuel filter and those damn quick connects, chances are that's your culprit!

I'm fighting the dealership to get the new connector replaced under warranty since it did it with my stock filter too... Might just end up eating the cost.

Screw warranty...

Sorry for disappearing guys, I was expecting to get an email when there was a reply. Thanks for all the replies.

I always change both filters every 5k when I change my oil, and I've always just used Motorcraft for all filters. As for the video.......no, that's not it. It doesn't do it until it's warm. And doesn't always do it either. I'm going to see if I can get a video of it so you guys can hear what I'm talking about. Again I may just be paranoid because of what my bud just went through.
