Exhaust leak coming in Cab

So I am not for sure that there is an exhaust leak but it seems to smell like the exhaust is coming into the cab when the heat is on? Is there anyway to check this and any point that you know of that I should check first to find out if there actually is an exhaust leak?

Smoke test through the EBP port or look or signs of soot. Usually leaks at the up pipes were it meets the y pipe. They have some doughnut gaskets that leak. Very common.

Or look around the manifolds for black soot they can leak

ok so it is cold and raining here and when I started my truck I saw exhaust coming from underneath the tire and looked under there and the muffle is split clean open, is it possible that when I am driving that the exhaust is being sucked back up to the front of the vehicle and coming into the cab through the air system?

with the exhaust rotted like that it would be more prone to doing it while at idle and not moving but more then likely your up pipes or manifolds are leaking... look for black soot around the up pipes first.. if you cant spot something right away, have some one floor the truck real quick while you watch behind the turbo and you will see the smoke come out of the leaks.. same on manifolds.

throw the HVAC on recirculate if the smell goes away

then you will now if it's coming in from the hood vent

Not to sound stupid but I have a 2001 F250, how would I turn it on to recirculate?

ok I leave work here in a few minutes so I will try it on the way home and see what happens

sorry mine has a separate recirc switch

not sure if Max heat does recirc on yours so like Alfie stated try AC

or just tape the top cowl vent that has the intake vent
