anybody have a cool box for under the back seat ? ive seen mtx makes a box with (2) 10's , with max depth of 5" , and that could work , but would like to see other options.
Not to derail but are 10s too bassy for a truck cab? I listen to rock and metal and country. I dont eant everything to sound like rap. Anybody run 8s? Or are 10s tight enough that they can sound good?
Excuse my ignorance, havent had a sub in a car for five years.
Last one was a mtx 10 in a square ported box I built had a 1k watt Rockford Fosgate amp dumped into it. Souned good but I had everything turned down to keep it from overpowering the rest of the system.
its all in the speaker , the box, and the power , relative to the vehicle its in. you need sub amp control thats for sure. 10's are perfect IMO , 12's are too much bass for me and 8's have left me wanting more unless you have 3 or more of them. i always use metallica's blackened for my sound test, the levels of recording are insanely good IMO. you need seperates , and a good quality sound control. you cant just add a sub and hope. i always power everything seprately and use components , its costs alot more, but in the end i always like it much more. i have tried it every which way. this system as is costs about 3k . where's JDC when we need him ?
Who is JDC?
My ear is somewhat trained. I sm good with guitar amps and sounds but I have a feeling they are seperate worlds. I bought 4 jbl speakers for my old truck to replace the stock stuff. The fronts sound good, 5x7, iirc but the 6x9 sound pretty shttiy. Tinny sounding. It is what it is.
Just wondered about a sub. Honestly Ill probably do a sub with an amp. Ill figure the other part out later.
Probably just need to buy a better 6x9. Or move the speakers into the door and amplify both sets of door speakers. Make sense?

Once installed could you throw a couple pics on here? I'm looking for something similar for my 05 and would love to see how it turned out...
One 18 with a 6 cube box on 3k rms wasn't enough for my super cab lol
Yea, thats what I tried to convey mike. Do the sub, get it dialed in then do the rest.
You guys go under the seat or behind on the rear cab wall?
I have a passion for bass, what can I say...and ALL my music came from one guy, who bass enhances all kinds of music, with lower notes. As some know, human ears can't really hear below 20 hz, and the boxes yall are used to, can't play anything near 20 hz, but a box tuned lower, with the amp set right, and the right music, sound AMAZING. It's alot harder to get lower frequencies into the 150+ decibel range.
