so my 550 has 4.88s and it top out at about 70mph at like 2700 rpm. and gets bad fuel milage, so ive been toying the idea of a gearvendors overdrive or changing the gearing down to 4.30 or 4.10s? opinions? i do tow and i drive it like a daily driver alot soo i need to still be able to tow good, thanks!

Ive talked with John at Hallers Repair at length about running a GV overdrive on my F450. The problem it weight. They do not like the weight of a 450 or 550. My suggestion would be to look for a gear set. And as it happens my 4.30 Dana 110's should be available soon I hope. Im looking for some 3.90's to give me some more gear to work with. FWIW, my 4.30s pull nicely and get me 80+mph.

Im working on putting a spicer auxially od trans on my new to me 550. They are heavy duty, and standalone. so you would run it divorced and only use it in 2wd. They have two ratio's a .75 which would make it like a 3.55 ration or .86 which would be roughly the same as a 4.10. Im using this behind an auto so im just gonna pick hwy or towing before i take off.

Hopee the electronics on the truck dont get pissed
