Famous 6.7 tick after oil change

I searched but no dice. Should I worry? Just tuned and deleted it 10 miles ago, I don't feel like puting all that crap back on.

Not sure. Synthetic 5w-40 rotella and motorcraft filters. Only 10k on truck. I heard its a fuel related tick? I'm not sure though

Might want this to be a sticky as a lot are starting to post about this issue after getting some miles racked up...

Talked to my buddy that's a diesel mechanic yesterday at ford and he did some research on the engine tick... Found some tsb on it but the bad news.... It's normal! In a nutshell it's the breaking in/wear of the engine internals and it's present in all diesels (7.0,6.0,etc) however the new trucks are so quiet you can actually hear the breaking in "tick"....

Here's the tsb he emailed to me

Yes there is.

It's annoying I know because my 6.7 did it but it's normal. It usually quits ticking about 500-1000 miles into the oil change.

Annoying for sure. Oh we'll, it's something that's ok, just have to live with it.

The odd part is mine usually gets worse the longer my oil change goes on, it will be slightly noticeable after I change the oil, then the more I drive the more noticeable it gets

Mine did it after the first oil change for about 1000 miles and has not done it since, I just did my fifth oil change

mikey it normally appears after you change the oil the first time, i deleted mine after my first oil change, when i changed the oil again the famous tick came to life

It's not something that you might hear or you might not. If it's ticking it is definitely noticeable.

its not even a steady consistent tick either... reminds me of a hot manifold crackling after a run when you shut the motor off,.. its annoying and i can only hear it at idle while outside the truck..
