We are on our second 6.4 job that we can't get the fan removed.
Is there a trick to getting these things off?
We have the proper fan tools with aior hammer, and nothing we do will make the fan spin off.

Any tips or tricks to help get them off?

Thanks.

You guys using a good air hammer? Like a quality snap on? Never had any issues other than not having a good hammer

Are you spinning it the right way? It's left hand thread.

Cut the fan hub off with a torch and change it and the water pump.

Some of them just WILL NOT come off.

I say change the water pump because its got a plastic impeller and if you get enough heat to er, she melts off the shaft lol

Mine was the same way. I have a good match hammer and it never even thought about moving. I left it on cause it didn't have to come off to do my studs just would have been nice. Glad I'm not the only one. Good luck!

Ok, kind of glad to hear others have had issues too.
We'll just leave it alone, the first one we took the water pump off.

Thanks guys.

It's the worst when getting it off is not an option, like changing the clutch or the water pump.

I had one pretty near had turned blue I had it so hot trying to get it free. It got a new clutch and pump lol

Put the tapered end of a small heel bar in the hole in the pulley. and have some one hold against it while you use the air hammer attachment. Thats worked everytime for me.

I have a pneumatic fan clutch remover for my air hammer, wouldn't budge the last one I had. Gas axe and voila. Lol

Some of them just won't budge.

My advice is if you put any heat to the clutch hub, change the water pump. Plastic impeller and rubber seal.
