Quick run down: the truck is an 06 with 47k on the clock currently. I installed my IPR coolant filter at 38k. I checked it within the first 200 miles, nothing. At 500 miles, nothing much there neither. The at around 2000 miles, well yeah nothing then neither.

This is what Im wondering... I believe the SS mesh filter from IPR is 150 micron. Most of the spin on cartridge style coolant filters are around 27 microns. And as we know the smaller the better.

Now with that being said, maybe the IPR isnt filtering fine enough for me to collect the sand? I did a huge fresh water and then distilled flush of the Gold then refilled with ELC. Im guessing by that, I did get rid of quite a bit of sand, but Id still like to run something for filtering the coolant.

Does the reasoning behind me not collecting sand/particulate in the filter sound right? Im thinking about running the Absolute filter setup as its still 3/4 and the benefits of the smaller micron spin on filters.

The other thing Im wondering is on the line size. Is the 3/4 needed in all instances? As Ive said mine looks clean and Ive done those water flushes. So maybe the 3/4 isnt needed for my truck as it isnt that polluted with sand etc?

150 micron? Wow. I believe mine is a 4 or 8 micron spin on filter. I don't believe line size would play a huge roll in filtering the sand out of the coolant.

I bought a sinister here because I got it on the cheap and it looks like a nice piece. So I was going to scrap the IPR and install this. But then I seen the Absolute one that uses 3/4 lines in the same place as the IPR, which I like.
