figuring out what latest flash I have on my ECU

Ive been reading about getting the latest flash on our factory computers from ford, wondering how we go about getting the tune updated and if it's needed. Was also reading some updates don't allow to run off road tunes. I could be wrong but I just want to know before I just start flashing off road tunes on my truck.

Truck is a stock 2008 f350 with 97k miles. I believe it's a job 2 truck. Thanks for any useful help.

If the truck is stock, just goto any ford dealer and tell them you want the latest flash. They will probably charge an hour of labor for it.

Has zero bearing on being able to run aftermarket tunes on them.

what does the "latest flash" supposed to do for you? If the truck has been running fine (stock) since '08, why even bother? Obviously doesn't apply to me......but I'm just curious, really, why bother?

Some people say they get better mpg or it runs better, not sure just wondering. Aldi read when running certain tuners the software version matters just trying to clarify or see if it's anything worth looking into.

there's no concern with various tuners FWIW
