i thought i was said somewhere, that you should only use ford filters. something about ford having the patent(s) on them, and aftermarket companies not being able to adequately duplicate them because of it.

Ford and Racor designed the fuel and oil system together.
Ford kept patents on the systems and Racor kept the patent on the filters so they could be used in other applications and be cheaper because of mass production.

Motorcraft filters are made by Racor.
Everyone else makes a "will fit" filter.
Close enough to fit but not an exact copy. It's why some oil filters are taller with an integrated cap. There is a video by Ford on YouTube that shows this.

If an aftermarket filter fails like Wix, I know wix will stand behind their products and replace whatever is caused by the failure

Ive ripped Filters apart in the past, to check quality. We use Napa Gold filters here. We get good pricing and look as good as the next best filter out there.

Are oil and fuel filters the same from a 6.0 to a 6.4? I have Napa Gold Fuel 3899 and Napa oil 7312. Will those both work in 6.4?

napa and wix filters are garbage, do yourself a favor and keep them out of your 6.0 or 6.4.

wix does not stand behind their filters, many 6.0 and 6.4 engines have failed because of their oil filters, ford will not honor warranty with these filters they are so bad. wix will not acknowledge theres a problem hense the reason they still produce and sell these filters.

when the filter doesnt seal to the bottom of the housing or work properly with the stand pipe for cold flow bypass protection then it really doesnt matter how well its constructed. every time i do an oil change on a truck with an aftermarket filter the oil filter housing is empty because the filters are to short and dont close the check valve at the bottom this is also a problem when the engine is running because it bleeds off oil pressure.

trav, the topic on filter quality your referring to, has nothing to do with the filter quality were referring to.

were referring to the filter itself. most aftermarket filters are to short, or otherwise wrong as to make you buy one with a integrated lid.

aftermarket filters suck. for the 6.4 anyways.

the old school spin on style, it pretty much doesnt matter what you run. you get what you pay for there.
