Hey guys, I'm more of a 7.3guy, but literally just bought my first 6.4 . got great deal I think, cuz tranny went out on kid, so him and friend put used one in to replace it and when finished it was making a metal on metal grinding/tinking noise. So they took it to Ford as they had given up. Ford said it needs tranny and flexplate, so that's how I bought it.
What I see is flexplate was hitting starter . all parts were in bed of truck but there is no spacer that just falls off between flexplate and motor like on my 7.3 to 4r100.

Sorry long winded, but is there supposed to be a easy to install spacer between flexplate and motor? Here are some pics I took to show what I mean.

That's what I was thinking and asked the guy that put the new engine in truck 6000 miles ago, buy of course couldn't remember.
Is that spacer tack welded to flexplate?

Is that an actual 6.4 flexplate in that picture cuz I don't understand why there are no holes for the bolts to hold it to the crank.

I ordered new starter, New flexplate, new bolts, new spacer. I'll be putting tranny that dealership said was bad this weekend with fingers crossed.
Thanks for the help.
