I have read mixed threads concerning this topic. Little details about my truck. 6.4 kr 08 with 140k miles.

For the rear- time to change? If so what fluid and weight? Capacity? Is a limited slip additive needed? I get a one tire fire for a second then the other locks in.

Front- just regular gear oil? If so what fluid and weight? Capacity?

Brakes- does this need to be changed?

Powerstearing- it pretty much changed itself, all over the shop floor. Guessing I need to go back with OEM? Capacity?

Thanks in advance!

I would like to know this also

(I found this all this info in the manual)

Wondering what you guys think.

For the Dana 80 (F-350 DRW) (My Truck) Ford says to change the rear and front diff fluid every (50K Severe duty) (100K standard duty) and use limited slip additive if your rear end is equipped with LS

SRW's

(10.50)

Ford says the axles is lubricated for life unless the axles are submerged in water then it immediately needs changing and add LS additive if your rear end is equipped with LS.
Should it be the same as the Dana 80's and replaced every (50K Severe Duty) or (100K standard duty)?

Front

Front axle 5.8 pints (2.8L)
Motorcraft SAE 80W-90
Premium Rear Axle
Lubricant
XY-80W-90–QL /
WSP-M2C197–A

Rear

Rear axle - F-250/350
(10.50 inch axle)1 6.9 pints (3.3L)
Motorcraft SAE 75W-140
Synthetic Rear Axle
Lubricant
XY-75W140–QL /
WSL-M2C192-A

4 oz of Ford's XL-3 Friction Modifier if LS

Dana M80

Rear axle - F-350
(DANA M80) 8.5 pints (4.0L)
Motorcraft SAE 75W-90
Synthetic Rear Axle
Lubricant
XY-75W90–QLS /
WS

Rear axle - F-450/550
(Dana S110/S130) 14.0 pints (6.6L)
Motorcraft SAE 75W-140
Synthetic Rear Axle
Lubricant
XY-75W140–QL /
WSL-M2C192-A

4 oz of Ford's XL-3 Friction Modifier if LS

Brakes Ford says brakes last 100K but I got 89K on my DRW and I changed
them at 80K

(Motorcraft)

Power Steering

between MIN and
MAX on reservoir

Then you have a problem. MERCON V fluid can destroy the solenoids in a TorqShift. Your 2008 has a TorqShift transmission. It requires MERCON SP or MERCON LV. And the transmission holds about 18 quarts, but if you only drain the pan you will get 8-9 quarts out of it.

I've always done my rear diff every 50k, tranny 25k and transfer case/front diff 100k all with motorcraft oils and additives....never had any issues.

Hi Mark the 3-4 quarts of Mercon V was directed to the power steering system not the trans.

So I shouldn't change it in my axles then.

What about transfer case?
