What can I do about frame rust on my 01 f250? Used to be a northwest truck so from the bottom everything has a good bit of rust and I don't want it to keep eating at my truck as I want this thing to last me a while.

What are my options to get rid of it as just painting over would just trap the rust.... I'd like to take care of it the right way... Before it gets worse...

Also what kind of price am I looking at for the rust removal and powder coating, rhino lining etc

Powdercoating the frame would not be cheap! I would scrape/wire wheel what you can. Treat the frame with a phosphoric acid, I prefer SEM RustMort. Then just topcoat with a rust preventative paint, I prefer SEM Rust Shield. I brush it on so I can get a decently thick layer and it levels out nicely. I don't drive it in the winter so I can't give a good review about how it lasts in that condition. But it is holding up extremely well otherwise.

I started with this:

Go to profleetcare.com I run a unit in southeast pa and from my experience the product is very good. The problem with undercoating is that it can trap moisture whereas this product is designed to creep into the metal and dispel moisture. Where are you located?

I'm located in nc. Does profleet care do individual vehicles or just fleets? What kind of cost am I looking at and is it just a protective coating or do you get rid of the rust first?

91 turbo that looks like a serious time consumer! It will likely be the way I have to go though... You think sandblasting would be quicker? Id like to keep this ordeal as inexpensive as possible, but i do want this truck to last.... It seems that hitting everything with a wire wheel would be cheaper but would also be very time consuming too...

It's gonna be time consuming either way in my mind. It's either gonna be expensive (paying someone else to do it) or time consuming. I pretty much disassembled my whole truck to do it. But it's probably not necessary if your not as picky as I am.

Hopefully I can manage this in pieces on the weekends as I need it as a daily driver!

Tree huggers DO NOT READ!!

Get as much rust off the frame as you can then, Go to a long dirt road with lots of thick used oil and spray the he!! out of the frame and drive it like you stole it down the dirt road for three miles or so, stop, spray it again and drive back.. Every truck up here has a rusted frame, if you look at the trucks with a diesel fuel tank in the bed, you would see no rust from were the tank is in the bed all the way back to the bumper because the overflow leaks down to the frame and anyone that has a diesel tank in there truck drives on dirt roads..

Its a thin mineral oil solution thats designed to creep into the rust and stop it so its not really a coating. We drill 3/8 holes in the door jambs and rocker panels to get the product inside and also pop the tailights out to get the wheel wells, plugging all holes when we're done. Its a once a year thing and the price range for a pickup is 130 for a regular cab and 150 for a crew cab. The company is based in ontario. Unfortunately we have no dealers in nc.
