haven't seen a thread on it and since i happen to pop a freeze plug the other night i thought i would bring it up here. .. completely rebuilt motor with maybe 300 miles on it and a plug came out...

so for future needs of the inquiring minds-
whats the best replacement plug to get and whats everyone say/use for sealant?

I use melling brass plugs. I also use ta-31 on them, i always run coolant so i dont worry about cracking blocks. And that stuff seals pretty much anything.

sounds like it got distorted on installation..

we just RTV them..

and other than the occasional one behind the starter on a 3.9 Durango, it's been years.

Yeah i think that and a little rust still on the block let it pop out. Half the plug has a little rust on it and the other half is nice and shiny .. couple of them look crooked yet and a couple are seated nice with maybe a rch recess into the block.

No biggy, ill try and tap them straight and if i cant get them, ill replace them.. for a whopping 47¢ a piece ill make it right...
