So my truck has green coolant in it and I know its supposed to be gold, I called the dealership and they said bc the system has green coolant in it its going to cost 300+ to flush it they said it would need to be flushed at least 3 times to get all that crap out.

Is there any way that I can flush it myself and avoid dropping all that cash, or should I just have them do it?

Also If I do the flush can I use an additive? the auto parts store sold me a bottle, can I use It or could it be harmful to the motor?
Or should I just get green elc coolant and run that?
thanks

Dump the green coolant. Fill with water. Run the truck up to temp. Dump that water, repeat that 3-4 times. After that fill with ford gold coolant and some ford sca coolant additive.

That's what we do to flush cooling systems.

I flushed mine following the fill and dump with distilled water last week. I used about 20 @ 4 gallons per flush at .88 cents a piece. Drove the truck with the heater turned on for about 15-20 minutes then drain and repeat. When all out of water bottles just add 4 gallons of your favorite coolant and top off with distilled if needed until it settles at the correct level.

Edit: This was in a 7.3 motor so I don't know if the volume of the coolant will provide the 50/50 mixture using my description above.
