Front cover clean up?

Can I machine a few .001 off the front cover that the LPOP rides against to clean it up with out screwing something else up? It has a few scratches in it. Thanks

I would think that needs to be a pretty tight tolerence to keep oil pressure up. How deep are the scratches?

Just big enough to catch your finger nail on.

I have seen the scratches filled and then machined back down....... It has to be perfect though

Filled with actual weld material, or epoxy based filler?

Agreed the machining would have to be tits on, and setting the cover up to be machined would be the fun part.

It was filled with welded material, although I am unsure on the actual filler that was used, and yes setting it up on the mill was a challenge......
