Fuel Filter Setup and Sizes?

getting my parts together, wondering what water separator and fuel filters are being used and what bases? I will be using an a1000 for my pump if that makes any difference. i have been looking at baldwin filter bases, but those have a 7/8 -14 inlet and outlet. was wondering if that was necessary or over kill, I would think 9/16 would be plenty? and has anyone used hydraulic hose and crimps? just looking for ways to save money without getting rid of quality stuff if you know what i mean.

That is the thread size, not hose size. It's an-10 orb which is equal to 5/8 hose. 1-16 for every dash number.
But no, with an A-1000 you need hose the big as its a high flow pump.

Aeromotive has a hose calculator for flow rate on their site. Find the gpm or lph requirements for the engine and base hose size on that. I have done it several time building fuel systems for mustangs. It's pretty simple but if you don't know where to start it can be a head scratcher. Just trying to help out.

Use a fb1311 Baldwin base with a bf1252 separator and a bf7633 fuel filter. The base should just be a -10 O ring seal
Those are what I'm using on my truck.

looks good, thanks for the pictures. think i will order up those bases and filters tonight! you going pushlock for feed then braided for return?

Pushlok feed and pushlok return to the stock steel line. I may get some fire sleeve for it to for around the engine.

nice, i would really like to get away from the AN fitting because they are so expensive. maybe just do pushlock all the way, not sure though.

Push lok would be the type of connection to the hose. Most are still AN style fitting connection. You can always use cheap steel hydraulic fittings to save some coin and brass hose ends

It should be based on the fuel flow of the pump.

I agree. You don't want to run so little of a feed line you overwork the pump but I have been running my a1000 at a base fuel pressure around 50psi and upwards of 80psi under boost. 3 years and 5-6k street miles and it works great as it did day 1. Until I upgraded injectors I had a base fuel pressure around 65 and it has lived a happy life.

You also don't want to have to small of a pressure regulator with an A-1000. It's gotta be big enough to bypass all the fuel you aren't using.

Just find a local hydraulic store and buy pushlok fittings in steel or brass much cheaper then places like summit selling aluminum fittings. AN stands for Army Navy and is a 36* flare I believe the fittings you'll get at a hydraulic shop will be JIC fittings which have a 37* flare they will work fine with each other if you have to mix them the steel jic will just be cheaper and more durable also compared to the alum fittings IMO.

They are both 37 degree flare. A true AN fitting has stronger threads. They are interchangeable.

materials and closer tolerances. And not all aluminum fittings are AN fittings. They are still JIC spec.
